I’m Jeff Hillyard. I’m a blogger, content writer, and recipe developer for hire. I specialize in all things barbecue and grilling.

I am a self-taught home cook with a passion and love for all things meaty and delicious.

If it either: a) can be cooked over fire, b) is delicious, or c) used to be alive – I’ll probably love writing about it (and eating it).

With a back yard full of grills and smokers (five and counting!), I am constantly learning new techniques and creating new recipes.

My writing is:

Easy to read
Informative and interesting
Search-engine friendly
Social media friendly

I’m also a Father and Husband to my amazing son and wife. When I’m not trying out my latest idea for a recipe you’ll usually find me chasing my toddler around or being yelled at by my wife (probably for not taking my shoes off while I grab my Thermapen from the kitchen, again).

Some interesting facts about me:

  1. I used to manage the service department of a heavy equipment dealership and the mechanics bestowed me with the nickname of “Brisket”.
  2. My favorite meal is a Prime Rib Roast, reverse-seared over charcoal with some hickory wood. Served with mashed potatoes and au jus.
  3. I was a business student at College of the North Atlantic from 2003 – 2006, and I was voted Class Clown of the 2006 graduating class. Here’s the thing – I dropped out in 2006. I did go back to school and graduated with a Diploma in Business Administration (General) in 2016.
